What to Expect

The GeoLounge is a decidedly more casual space at the Annual Conference. While we will have certain planned events, feel free to come and go at any time. Any time you stop in, you can expect to find things like:

GeoGuessr Tournament

What’s more fun than GeoGuessr? Competing live with other attendees! No advance registration required, just stop by and play. There might even be prizes…

Maybe you can’t make it to the tournament? We’ll have a few other friendly competitions running the entire conference. See if you can claim the high score!

Mappy Hour

More like mapping hour. We’ll be picking out random places and topics in Illinois on OpenStreetMap and adding details, live. Audience participation is encouraged!

Birds of a Feather

A “birds of a feather” session is really just a designated time and place for folks to “flock together” and talk. No panelists, no prepared questions. Just a group of your peers who are into the same topic. Topics like:

  • Women in GIS
  • Local Government
  • Open Source GIS Users

Session Overflow: Extended Q&A

Calling all presenters! If you presented earlier in the day and ran out of time for Q&A, bring it to the GeoLounge!

Of course, you could do that any time you want, but we’ll be specifically designating this time slot for presenters and audience members to circle back to anything that there just wasn’t time for.

For any poster submissions, we also invite the poster creators to come show their work during this time and answer questions about it.
