Abstract
ArcGIS Field Maps Tasks provide a robust way to guide field crews through structured workflows directly within ArcGIS Field Maps. With tasks, organizations can reduce training time, minimize data entry errors, and improve consistency across inspections and field data collection efforts. This 60-minute session introduces attendees to the fundamentals of designing, configuring, and deploying Tasks for real-world field operations, using municipal data as a working example. Through a combination of conceptual guidance and live demonstrations, attendees will learn how to break complex inspections and data collection processes into intuitive, step-by-step task workflows. The session will cover configuring task elements, preparing and publishing task-enabled maps, and deploying them for use in the field. In addition to task configuration, participants will explore best practices for aligning workflows with organizational data standards, simplifying field crew onboarding, and maintaining long-term operational consistency. The session will conclude by demonstrating how task-driven workflows can be integrated with a companion web application that provides project managers and field leads with a centralized view of project status, work progress, quality assurance, and team activity. Attendees will leave with a practical framework for implementing ArcGIS Field Maps Tasks within their own organizations, along with resources and strategies for building scalable, end-to-end field data collection workflows that support both field staff and office personnel.
