Abstract
This session will provide a statewide update on Illinois’ NG9-1-1 GIS program, focusing on the evolving submission schedule, role expectations for local GIS contributors, and the critical function GIS plays in routing 9-1-1 calls across the ESInet. Attendees will receive a clear overview of statewide progress toward maintaining validated, authoritative GIS layers, along with updates on Workflow Tool improvements designed to streamline submissions and strengthen data quality. The session will also outline statewide efforts to prepare for migration to NENA Version 3 standards and how statewide schema alignment will support efficient call routing, boundary consistency, and long-term program interoperability. Roles and responsibilities—specifically those of Local Data Stewards, Data Maintainers, and statewide oversight partners—will be highlighted to reinforce the collaborative model Illinois uses to maintain accurate and authoritative datasets. This session is designed to give GIS professionals, local government partners, and technical stakeholders a meaningful and actionable understanding of statewide NG9-1-1 GIS expectations for the coming year.
